I am just a little irritated that my blog isn't good enough for the world's biggest freaking search engine. The cool thing is, however, if you type in "iamronak" in the Google search field, you'll get The Mersey Buckets MySpace site... and not only will you get to see their homely faces, you can actually read their non-sensical ramblings as well. (The Keith/Johathon interview is..................... Believe it or not, these guys are my friends).
I can't stop listening to The Postal Service with their first album "Give Up." I am mesmerized by this work. It has a hold on me that I simply cannot deny. I told my GF that I might just turn it into the soundtrack of my life, but she gave me a nonchalant "Uh huh," and sent me on my way (though she did say she liked the album very much, but hadn't listened to it very recently).
I am acquiring new blog-friendly followers, but as I mentioned before I think I need more hits to be an entry on GOOGLE. I implore all of you who read this tripe to send this link to friends, and friends of friends, and so on until I am an Internet GOD!!!
I feel that most of you know that the best part of this site is the Comments Section, so comment on... The postings aren't that great, but it's really the responses that make this fun. I got curious about Google’s search results and looked into it a bit and I think you are only somewhat right. Google's search results are somewhat based on the number of hits that a website receives, or in other words, the popularity of that site. But more so, when searching with Google, the pages that it returns in the search results are listed by their importance and relevancy to the search. This is done by PageRank and sophisticated text-matching techniques. My name above should link to the Google help page that is titled "How do I add my site to Google's search results?" It says that the most important thing you can do is to have high-quality content on your pages, which should then comprise a helpful and information-rich site. Umm...yeahhh...we're gonna have to go ahead and sort of realize that your site is a recently started blog with rather unique(?) content. Not like, let’s say…the New York Times. Your blog, however, is run by Blogger.com, which seems to have just as high of a PageRank as the NY Times. Also, Blogger.com is owned by Google. So, it seems that if you really want your blog to come up in the Google search results it most definitely can. BUT, for Google to even be able to return your site as a result, it needs to have it indexed. I don't think it is yet. If you type in the full URL (http://www.iamronak.blogspot.com), Google does not return anything as a real result. The way to get your site indexed (for Google's software "spiders" to crawl the web and find it) seems to mostly depend on how well your site is connected through multiple links to other sites on the web. In other words, a good amount of other sites must link to yours - and only then will it be eventually and automatically found and indexed by Google. Then, as the blog becomes more well-known, hopefully, the site will come up if someone just searches in Google for "iamronak", or maybe even searches certain words or phrases that match well with the titles of your site or postings, or even the text within a post. Getting others sites to link to your site seems very much related to promoting your site. Again, if you really want to get serious about your blog and increase the number of readers/comments and its overall popularity, then you must promote it. If you haven't already, go to bottom of www.blogger.com, click on "help", then goes towards the bottom and click on "Beyond Blogging". In the "How to" category, click on "Promoting your Blog".
